Penicillin-Streptomycin Solution (100X)

Introduction

OriCell™ Penicillin-Streptomycin Solution (100X), also known as "Double Antibiotic" (Pen/Strep), is directly applicable to cell culture media to prevent microbial contamination. Penicillin primarily interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis and is especially effective against Gram-positive bacteria. Streptomycin binds to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, inhibiting protein synthesis, and is effective against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, with a stronger effect on Gram-negative bacteria. The combination of penicillin and streptomycin effectively prevents the majority of bacterial contaminations.

OriCell™ Penicillin-Streptomycin Solution (100X) contains Penicillin G sodium salt at 10,000 U/mL and Streptomycin sulfate at 10 mg/mL, sterilized by filtration. The recommended working concentrations in cell culture are 50–100 U/mL for penicillin and 0.05–0.1 mg/mL for streptomycin. For use, dilute 1:100 by adding 1 mL of this solution to 99 mL of complete culture medium.
